Cert IV in Training and Assessment: Workplace visits

States and territories have different requirements for Registered Training and Assessment Organisation visits to the workplace for training and assessment. These visits are to monitor the Cert IV in Training and Assessment training and discuss the progress of the training in relation to the training plan.

They could also be to deliver training and/or to assess competence in accordance with the Registered Training and Assessment Organisation’s learning and assessment strategies, and the learning program and training plan developed for the specific learner.

Issues may be identified during these visits, for example the Certificate IV Training and Assessment training plan may not have been commenced or followed, or the apprentice/trainee’s progress towards the achievement of competency may not have progressed as expected. OHS and other workplace issues such as bullying or victimisation may also be identified during these visits. These issues will need to be discussed, and solutions reached, and any changes to the training plan made and agreed on by all people involved.

In most states there is an STA representative who can be contracted if you have any concern about the workplace where your apprentice/trainee is placed or employed.

Visit any Registered Training and Assessment Organisation website to find out more information!
